ours is £22 for our plot (see new shoots thread for an idea of size its about 20m x 18m no idea what that is in rods) We have no amenities at all though. The water will come from the head of the allotment association sticking his hose over the fence and filling our butts periodically.

mine still the same as last year £14.75 for a piece 25' by 85 ' a stream at the bottom and a poo fairy. ( rent also includes £1.50 to national allotment association)
the association also runs a seed buying with kings and it about half the price of normal internet prices.

I pay nothing as i can't get one - the waiting list for 228 plots on asquith rd in cheltenham is 148 long. Ridiculous. Don't councils have an obligation?!

the land is sold and then houses are build on them, thus meaning less allotments around for everyone, you are right the councils do have obligations but not for the allotment holders.i hope you find one soon.

I pay £41.40 here in Leeds for a whackiong great big plot. Its gone up quite a lot, think it was £28 when I first started 2 years ago and the plot was in a right state, I did ask for the first year to be rent free as it was so overgrown but they said if I didnt want it theyd give it to someone else. That includes water but theres barely any fencing around the site so its quite often vandalised and scallies break in when youre down there etc. The council are not very helpful, friendly or even polite when it comes to dealing with allotmenteers. Sigh....
Hi wormlady, whereabouts are you? i pay £33 inc water & free loan of strimmers, lawnmowers, rotavators, tools, etc (just pay £1 for petrol)
                i;m on oakwood lane site

My allotment is about 7M square but I only took 2/3 of what was offered in 2006 for £3.50.
2007 was £5.00 but not too purturbed as dirt cheap (lol).
We are only about 7 people on the end of what is a cemetery (and will be one day) and was years ago mostly allotments in Histon near Cambridge.
The main allotments are nearby but even there I think they haven't water either.

My plot is about 80m x 6m, which I think is close to 20 rods (?) and I'll be paying about £45 next year (assuming it doesn't go up). That includes water from a tap and we have a shop onsite. It's only open in summer, so I haven't used it yet but I think they supply big bags of compsot and stuff at decent prices, great for me, as I don't drive.

I haven't paid anything this year, as I got an extended rent free period as it was such a state.

Oh I am reliably informed it is a long hose so should have no difficulty in reaching my butt.

                              Hi Hans Mum
Im on the Stanningley Road site over in Armley next to Gotts Park golf course. We havnt got an association, have you? Who do you rent strimmers from? That would be so handy especially as I dont drive. We did used to have a assoc years ago before I got a plot but apparently everyone fell out and it was disbanded! Also rumour has it we now have a waiting list for plots on our site, which Im doubtful about as half the plots are not cultivated and havnt been for ages. Although newbies have got to be proper determined cuz the state of the plots is horrendous...
We recently got letters from the council threatening to thorw us off our plots if they werent maintained better which is a right cheek given most of us are struggling to turn total wasteland into productive land and have only had our plots a few months. They ignore my (repeated) calls about the fence, personal saftey and the shedful of asbestos down the end.....

Due to my over-excitement (this morning) I forgot to ask about things like size and rent - will report back when I get the paperwork through
