Encouraging rabbits to move on..

Hello,

My new allotment has a resident population of rabbits (quite alot of them judging by the holes/ droppings) that I would like to encourage to move home (I'm in the very last plot so they won't have to move far, just into the briar next door). A search of the internet brings up lots of ways to keep rabbits out of your plot but none so far to encourage them to leave if they're already living under it.. I'm hoping all the digging and the fact that the lovely tall brambles they were living under have gone will have some effect but if any one else has any rabbit disuading suggestions I'm all ears.. tho as I'm a lifelong veggie no guns and rabbbit pie suggestions please

A chap on an allotment near mine uses artificial snakes. Don't know if it works, I would like to ask him/her, but they've never been "in" when ever I've been there. Superb lottie though, lots of care and attention. I'm jealous.

Tell them there are plans for a "travellers" site close by...

On a serious note, I'd say that the lack of bramble and att the disturbance will be the biggest factor. Once they're gone, just fence yourself in.

the snakes sound like a cheap and cheerful thing to try.. and if nothing else they'll give my fellow allotmenteers a giggle..

Hopefully that, combines with the digging every weekend and the reduction in handy food (until I plant stuff at least) will encourage them to move their fluffy little bunny rears next door.. incidentally, would the various holes all go to one large warren? would feel very guilty if I collapsed/ dug over a tunnel and trapped them somehow? tho I suppose they would just dig their way out? (and resolve to move hopefully)

Will definatly let you know how it works out, especially if I try the snakes.. ;O)
