Hi , has any one got any ideas about rules on allotment. I have just started and haven't been given any rules, there are no sheds, someone hinted that they are not allowed. Only 3 people apart from us are using them so could we set our own rules as i would love to have a bash at a allotment chicken site like Huge Furnley did on his programm

You'd need to check with your local (or parish) council I think. I'm pretty sure they are the ones that set the regulations.
We're not allowed sheds or greenhouses, we're only allowed to keep chickens or rabbits for personal consumption.
Give the council a ring.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/

it depends if you are self-regulated or council regulated, but the council still has the final say even if you are self-regulated (i think)
on ours we are self-regulated and we didnt get any rules when we got our plot, but after being told what we could & couldnt do by the chairman & his misses we got them to issue the rules to all plot holders and put a set up on the notice board.
For instance we cant keep livestock but the plot next to me keeps bees - cant complain though lots of honeyThe love of gardening is a seed once sown never dies ...

Use of hosepipes is banned, but there are quite a few mains filled water troughs around.Veni, Vidi, Velcro.
I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Ha, our allotments used to be like that about ten years ago. Then we gave our plot up due to work commitments and when we got the new one about three years ago most of the old boys had passed on, and now you get funny looks if you prefer spuds to quinoa and lentils.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I can do grumpy old sod without too much effort, but can't manage new-age-self-improvement. I try to be pleasant but usually end up wandering off muttering - it can't be doing my karma any good.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
