  • Swoe & Spork

    Hi,
Is it worth investing in 1) a swoe -three sided hoe device and 2) a spork - part spade part fork or are specific tools required?

I'm of a mind that I'd rather have a tool designed to do a specific job well, than a tool designed to do several jobs ok. If you get my drift.

Besides, isn't a Spork an alien of some kind that flies around in a giant egg? Nanoo nanoo.

Thought he was the fella with the pointy ears?
I tend to agree with wayne on the tool front (in my inexperience).

      Beem me up scotti!

        I have a swoe....and never knew it's name!!!

Would NEVER use anything else for weeding ( in fact I have two!!) so easy to use and gets into places other tools can't!
        Nice long handle too

          Swoe and Spork

Yes, I've heard that about the Swoe and with the long handle is good for getting to out of reach places esp. if there is heavy growth of crops and you want to weed around them. Thanks for reply.

Go for the swoe, forget the spork.

At the risk of repeating the above....

I have a Swoe, and it's very good for light work amongst tightly-spaced plants. Well worth the money. I still use a Dutch hoe and a swan-necked hoe for rougher jobs.

I have a spork too. Great idea, but doesn't work at all.

                  Swoe and Spork

Thanks to all who replied. Have invested in a SWOE. The SPORK is on-hold, but the money saved has gone into roottrainers and seed potatoes. Looking forward to a sunny day tomorrow to be in the garden.

Please can we join - we argue about who has it when we are both out in the garden. Technically I wanted it and he found it - so we both lay claim to it.

It's great when the old back isn't at its best...and for just loosening the top layer of soil pre-sowing.

                            Swoe and Spork

Glad I got. Started singing "One man went to SWOE, went to SWOE a meadow" - not literally - wouldn't disturb the wildlife! It's amazing what a bit of sunshine and activity in the garden will do.

Sign me up! I actually have 2 swoes in my armoury.-couldn't resist another for a pound in a garage sale!!! I love everything about them -right weight, and size, the red paint and the measure. The front corner excellent for drawing out drills. only small comment is to be carefull with that front corner around stems but they get in places other hoes just don't reach.

                              A spork?.... that's illogical captain.
