dripper watering system

hello, this year im planning on installing a dripper system into my greenhouse (12ft by 14 ft), i plant straight into the ground growing toms, cuecumber, peppers, melons and a grape vine and i was wonder if anyone has tried this method in a greenhouse? any logic would be appreciated

A dripper system is a great idea. However i would steer you away from the cheap and cheeful option (namely the 'Big Drippa' system), frankly its rubbish.

If you can spare the cash for an electronically timed one hooked up to your outside tap this is the best option, or if not, you can get submergable pumps for waterbuts that would work equally as well and use saved rain water too!

Must agree with Protea there, the 'Big Drippa' is awful... I bought 2 of the blighters, rigged one up, faffed with it for ages & couldn't get it to work right, didn't bother opening the other one

Can you give me a steer as to where to look at these electronically timed gadgets?
I am looking for something I can rely on, and everything I have read or heard about the "Big Drippa" says that clearly isnt the one to get.

About three years ago we bought a Gardena microwatering system to set up from an outside tap to the g/h when we were on our hols.

Worked okay, but was fiddley to set up, and some of the bits at the end of the hoses would fall off, but it worked...the timer could be set up to have different watering time patterns too.

Please don't waste money on big drippa, mines been in the shed for over a year, that's where i threw it after discovering it either emptys in one go, or blocks up.

Well that is reassuring, I thought it was my own stupidity - couldn't get the Big Drippa thing to work properly at all. Waste of money, NEVER buy one.
Back to square one for me, no electricity on the allotment.

Don't know if you have a local Homebase or if they have the same offers but ours has been selling Aqua Pods for �5 which will drip feed 5 pots. Tesco are selling same for �25. I gor one but havn't started using yet. They can be linked up to other pods and there is an Aquapod 10 as well. Don't know if that is any help.

today im going to try set up a dripper system, iv had the stuff to do it for a couple of years so i may as well have a go. i dont have the big drippa thank goodness! all i have is the hose, drippers and one big water butt. my plan is to place the water butt as high up from the drips as possible(about 2m) and see what allot more gravity can do than the big dripper offers and also much more weight of water forcing out the drips. i'll let you all know how i get on anyway as im sure this auto water system will be a valuable asset to the plants and us.

Wayne if it works could you take sum piccys etc to let a complete dullard like myself have an idea of how it works? I want to sort something out for my greenhouse just not sure how its gonna work as yet

hi guys.. i've got a raindrip dripper system that i can water 20 containers and i thought someone could help me...the system come with pipe, 20 dripper, flow control valve and some other bits...the dripper can water 2 litre per hour and i want to water when i'm away for a week my tomatoes, pepper and courgette...i was wondering how much water a day they need? considered that they will be in morrison flower buckets. plus is better do 2 or 3 watering or just 1 ( i will buy a timer so i can set up when watering and how much) i also thought to keep them on all the time considered that they are very thirsty plants and do the rest of my pots with watering can or through the saucer...
