Could anyone recomend a seed company which suplies the most reliable seeds at the best price. I have looked at Pennard plants and The Real Seed Company. Pennard Plants seem cheap but they don't say how many seeds in a packet. I am a bit broke so need good advice. Any coments or words of wisdom much appreciated. thanks

Why not try Seeds of Italy (click on name)? Reasonably big choice, large quantities, some unusual varieties, good price.
Would also give you extra seeds to swop with others?

What sort of seeds do you require, do you want specific vegatables ie ballhead cabbage/greyhound/savoy or do you eat anything, do you want spring/summer/autumn or winter veg.
Lidls have a good assortment of veg seed I recomend you take a notebook write down what you fancy and get more info off the web as the instructions are not always that clever, have a browse around all the normal seed companies T&M/Suttons/Unwins and see what is available.

Yeah I second that shirley, I'd forgotten Lidl/Aldi. Many are 29p per pkt.Last edited by smallblueplanet; 18-02-2008, 08:10 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand

Try ebay too for specific one-off varieties. Know the cost of seeds elsewhere before you purchase though, don't assume ebay is a bargain. Check seed sources using google.Last edited by smallblueplanet; 18-02-2008, 08:37 PM.To see a world in a grain of sand

For heritage stuff, I've bought from The Real Seed Co several times and their service is super. They're also a small, personally owned place and test grow all their produce themselves. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you buy from them.I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

The people at the Real Seed Co are lovely, and I've never had any problem with their stuff. You can't beat Aldi or Lidl for value though (their 29p seeds are even named varieties!). In terms of reliability (ie germination rates) I believe T&M came out top in a recent survey of the main suppliers.Resistance is fertile

Having said that someone ordered from them to report back that although their seeds are £1, the qty were either double that of Moreveg.net seeds (theirs only 50p) or in some case even less . Pennards and Moreveg are cheap as qty are greatly compromised so ultimately they're no different to T&M etc. Seeds that appears to be cheap without compromising on qty are Alan Romans and Packetseeds. If you can afford Real Seeds, go for them but they're not cheap as is the price for ethical seeds .Food for Free
