Bindweed comes up on my allotment every year but its less of a problem each time.
I weed out the roots I see when they come to light but so far this year very little seen. Admittedly gave a bit of glyphosate a try first year but it is so prone to drifting in slightest breeze I gave it up. I think what has been said in literature is that it doesn't like constant interference so just keep hoeing and digging and it may diminish. Good luck!
