Jiffy 7s

Hi guys,

Now that they've introduced a peat-free jiffy 7 pellet, I'm seriously considering trying some. What are the crops that would benefit most from this type of treatment? Don't want to go overboard and buy hundreds for all my little plants, they are still pricey!

BW - I have to say I have been disappointed with them these last two years. Previously they worked very well, but I found the peat free ones dry out too quickly. I find them very good for nasturtiums and cosmos which I can drench, but no good for much else.

I used some (not the peat free jobbies, though) last year for my brassicas, and spring onions.

Not using them this year as I've these 2" pots in trays which I can use time and again.

I ended up taking the 'string vest' off each when planting them out.

I started sweet corn in the non-peat-free ones year before last - got lovely healthy plants. Haven't tried the peat-free ones though as I decided to try fibre pots (also peat-free) this year.
