Wayhey!! I now have half a plot behind the churchyard (no cracks about bonemeal please!) Even better - it's right next to the water tank and I know the young lass who will be sharing it with me - she's a fellow member of our village Britain in Bloom committee. I can't tell you how excited I am, but as this is the allotments board, I'm sure I don't need to!

I don't even know which half I have yet - it's up to me to choose. There are autumn rasps at one end but the other end is next to the water tank. It's in pristine nick too as it was my next door neighbour's second plot. He's a seriously tidy gardener - will have to live up to it!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Got all that in the home gardens Jeannine. This will be for my additional veg - heritage peas/beans, purple sprouting broc, romanesco cauli and maybe a few extra new potatoesWhoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Good news Flummery, well done. I would take the end near the water butt myself. Just in case we get a scorcher, it's a long haul with two watering cans in the middle of summer, or at least it seems that way."He that but looketh on a plate of ham and eggs to lust after it hath already committed breakfast with it in his heart"
