Grants for new sites etc

Hi All

I'm posting this question on behalf of a colleague. Where he lives they have been allocated some ground by tha parish council to be used for allotments.

What he would like to know is if there are any grants thay could apply for as a new site so that they could get hold of some sheds, water butts etc to get started as the site is completely bare.

They are in the process of seeing if they can get water.

I have aready suggested that he contact NSALG to see if they have helpful advice and the local council as well as scrounging barrels from local factories, but also offered to ask on here too. All answers will be printed out and I'll take them into work for him.

Try the ARI website, they may be able to help. I don't suppose you are in a coal mining area otherwise you could have tried the CRT. Apart from that some of the bigger organisations like Shell used to do a community fund so they may be a good try

B&Q have a community grant thing too, noticed a big sign about it when I was in there the other day. Also the Co-op, I think.
Then there's Lottery-funding, which unfortunately I know nothing about, except they donated money for a new pavillion at our local cricket club!

its with the big lotto fund they have £50 millon to give to allotments, box schemes, community food growing projects, seed exchanges and food related education. grants from £2,000 to £500,000 will be awarded to not - for - profit community groups and organisations from spring.

Go to the Citizens Advice people. We got a grant from something to do with landfill (can't remeber details). But CAB gave us the details.
