    Hi

This is my second year on my lottie, last year I grew mainly potatoes, just through lack of experience.

My alotment is on the edge with a track next to it and then a narrow car park and then some flats. The flats are just a little taller than a row of terraced houses.
Shade came across my plot at about 3 or 4 pm, will this affect what grows well on my plot?

    Many thanks...T

id like to know this answer as i have trees on my plot that create shade all day long, just in different places as the sun moves.

Anything that shades your plot will limit the amount of sunlight to the plants. If you are growing plants that require full sun for as many hours as possible that will be a bad thing, if you're growing tender plants that require some shade, then it's a good thing. Learn what grows best in different parts of your plot and use the shading to your advantage.
I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

Can't add much to what terrier said, but it sounds like you only get shade for a fairly small part of the day, so it shouldn't limit your choices too badly. Tomatoes might be slower to ripen, for example, but provided they get full sun for a fair chunk of the day they will still grow and fruit. Heck, I even managed to grow a few outdoors last year, despite the atrocious weather!

I'm sure lots of people here grow on plots that don't have full sunlight for the whole day...
