  • Stuff left on abandoned plots

I've got my eye on an old bath and some bits of carpet which have been left on a neighbouring plot which doesn't seem to be in use. What would be the best way of finding out if I could adopt these? I could ask the rep, though he's not around very often and is very vague.... Or should I just ask the other plot holders....? Seems a shame to go and find alternatives if the bits are just sitting there unused and looking untidy too. Opinions/advice gratefully received.

On our site anything left is the property of the site and is sold off every now and then.

ask the allotment committee, because if you take it without permission it is classed as theft even if the allotment doesnt have a current tennant.

I think that will be the best policy then...

The early bird cathes the worm...

I'd take it but put a sign on it or where it was saying "I've taken this because I thought it was free. If its yours let me know and I'll put it back".

I'm sure that will sort it one way or another. Also I'm sure the committee would be more than happy for you to have it.

So far I've found the boots but not the person on mine! Is it true what they say about old gardeners. They don't die they just decompose? If so the last few on mine haven't done the soil any good!!
