Handing over an allotment

A few weeks ago an old chap was busy digging his plot he was there most day's and he dug the whole plot it look's perfect. I found out yesterday that he has given up his plot and didnt want anybody complaining that he left it in a state. it's been relet now to the wife of someone who also has a plot.
If only everybody did the same !!!!

We had one of the pensioners on our site, dig over an empty plot (not his own) to make it easier to let!

We dug over two plots and guess what, we now have two lovely new neighbours and they can start planting right away. So much nicer having people growing next to you than looking at a dreadful mess.

Cheers Nog, I think common courtesy is a very underrated disposition. Back home as a young-un in college I used to help the local old boys by digging their plots over and preparing them for planting, this ensured they could continue gardening long past their physical capacity, and kept me in good home grown produce when in surplus.

I think it's just common courtesy - either that or masochism. One of our long standing plotholders takes on an overgrown plot, works it for a year or two, wins best veg garden at the show and then gives it up to take in another overgrown plot. It's great - we've just got his last plot!

Oh I couldn't do that. We have people like that on our site constantly moving around the site.

I have my two plots and I am staying till I die.....It cost me skin off my hands getting them in to a working condition and tons of manure, leaves, grass and time.

On the same sort of note, I took on a plot the end of last year,(empty) and spread the whole lot in manure and left over winter, and the lovely bloke in the plot next to mine (who's plot mine was before I took it on) has text me to say he's rotivated it for me.....twice. Bless 'im!
