undug bit of lottie. can i plant through it?

I have now dug, weeded and weeded again about 2/3 of lottie and planted things. I now have a portion which is not dug yet and may not get a chance to do it yet either. was thinking og growing squash on the edges and trying to train tendils over this bit but if I dug out say a 2 foot circumference would I be able to put plants like I dont know say sweetcorn in this or will they not grow very well with the land around them undug? its not high weeds just grass and couch grass mainly?

Go for it if you cover it well with the growth you will not worry about it because you will not be able to see it but keep plants well watered to give it a chance jacob

Could you perhaps make this part a "no dig" bed, cover with black plastic mulch and plant through it?

will try it then! nothing ventured etc. have some weed suppresant covering so will plant through that. just didnt know if they stood a chance with the grass there as well! sorted!
