  • Another hello!

Hi, I joined here ages ago as I was moving to a new house with a rather large veggie garden. I have been so busy with my plot that I hardly have time to get here! Does anyone have any advice for where to buy (as cheap as possible) large numbers of plug plants? I have a greenhouse going up next week (got a 24ft x 8ft for £160 from ebay), have loads of seeds sown in my living room, but I am running out of space and time for sowing anymore. My veggie patch is 330 ft by 200ft, so I hope you can feel the panic!

Try Instant organic vegetable garden uk - Rocket Gardens, if you tell them the space you have available, they can work out the quantity of plants to go in it, if you want them to.
Also, the classified ads in the magazines mention another whose name I can't just remember at the mo!
I was at B&Q yesterday, and they had 3 trolleys full of veg plants which were knocked down to half price, so they might be worth a look if you have one nearby.

Where did you move to, Kew? That's not a veg plot, it's a smallholding

Hi there Mugwump, how far do you live from Sudbury as i see you live in Suffolk. There is a private grower that i know that is the cheapest grower of veg plants in the area. Send me an email and i will let you know the address.

How many are you feeding mugwump, or are you setting up a market garden?

That size of allotment for one, would seem very daunting even for the strongest of lotteer. I would suggest get in what you can an cover a section, otherwise you may find that you'll have considerably more than you can manage come autumn. There's only so many hours in the day for shelling peas!!!

Mine's only 30 x 70 ft, and I could grow enough for our family of three. You have thirty times this size!, I'd seriously ask if anyone in your locality would be interested in a box scheme.

And if you can't plant it all up then maybe cover some to protect from the weeds.
