  • Broad Beans - Any good recipes?

Sorry if this isn't really an allotment post, but we are just about to crop our very first lot of broad beans and were wondering how best to enjoy them.
We decided to stir fry them in a bit of bacon fat, but I wondered if any of you more experienced lottie owners had any better ideas?
    Cheers

    My fave recipe is this:

BROAD BEANS WITH ONIONS AND BACON
SERVES 2 AS A SIDE DISH
    INGREDIENTS:
    250g broad beans, shelled
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    ½ onion, chopped
    175 ml chicken stock
125 g smoked bacon, thinly sliced
    juice of 1 lemon
    salt and pepper to taste
    METHOD:
    1. Cook the broad beans in boiling salted water for 2 minutes.
    2. Drain and cool. Peel and discard the outer skins.
    3. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over a medium–high heat.
    4. Add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes.
    5. Add the broad beans and bacon and sauté for a further 5 minutes.
    6. Add the stock and bring to a boil.
    7. Reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the broad beans are tender.
    8. Add lemon juice and season to taste with salt and pepper.
    9. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Note: Items 1 & 2 are only necessary if the beans are a bit old and tough.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
