Rubarb, Rubarb, Rubarb

Don't know if this should be in the fruit section but as its on me lottie i will ask here.
I have a few rubarb plants which i would like to move, when would be the best time to dig them up and replant them.

When they're dormant - autumn, winter, early spring. But they are tough so you don't have to be as precise as other plants!

Give them plenty of organic stuff when you do - compost, manure, whatever you can get. They are hungry plants. Good luck with it.

Hi Phataff, I'd agree with Vicky, in the autumn when the plants are dormant. The good thing is, that means you've got loads of time to prepare a bed with loads of organic matter incorporated into it. Your Rhubarb will enjoy its new home and reward you in the years to come. Remember not to take any stalks in the first year after moving it (especially if you've devided the crown) in order to give it time to establish and let the leaves feed the roots.
