  • Compost and organic pest control

Hello, it is quite a while since I posted. This is our first year. So far we have had excellent results from spuds, parsnips, onion, leeks, lettuce. Pumpkins seem to be going O.K. cabbage, cauliflour and broccolli seem to be being eaten by something but are still growing. All the peas were lost to little maggoty things in them. The broad beans were also lost to black marks. Can anybody advise of a good organic way of controlling the pests.

Also we have just built a compost plot. Am I right in thinking that we should not be putting weeds in it etc as it will only be spreading them. Is there any guide as to how to creat the best compost. I did see a post on this site a while back but now cannot find it.

    Regards

    Suzy

    Hi Suzy!
If you go to on the plt, vegging out by Jaxom it gives you loads of very useful advice by Geordie on how to get the best out of your compost bin. Best wishes dexterdog
