Advice on raised beds

I have had my lottie for two years but want to put in raised beds so my kids can 'help' without trampling down the onions
I wanted to run the beds the full width of the plot but was wondering on the best width of the bed and space between beds?
Any other tips and hints greatfully recieved

They want to be as wide as you can reach half way into them, so you can work on them without standing in them. This will preserve the soil structure. For kids I guess they may need to be thinner but then you may end up with more paths than beds. The paths need to be as wide as you can walk down and maybe a bit wider if you use a wheelbarrow.

My beds are 4 foot wide max with some a bit narrower! 2 foot paths between bed and a central path (I have two allotments) 3 foot wide!

Works for me, is simple to mark out and to maintain as all paths are covered with permeable plastic (25Kg grass seed bags split down both sides) covered with chippings which we get delivered free at our allotments. A LOT of work initially but pays off when everyone elses paths are covered in weeds!
It's easier if you make the beds no more than 12 foot long.

To take account of this my plots are 18 foot wide from the edge of the central path giving me 12 foot beds 2 foot paths widthwise then 10 foot X 4 foot beds down the edge of the plot.
