Supports suggestions please.

Does anyone have any suggestions or clever tip for supporting large plants in pots. Free standing pots. Not against walls or trellis.
Its all very well sticking a cane or two in but I cannot make them stable.
They just penetrate the compost and wobble about and a curved pot is a nightmare.
In fact anything just poked in the soil has nothing to anchor it and consequently the plants weight and growth becomes poorly supported.
Anything to purchase or your clever suggestions would be appreciated.

Thick galvanised wire and a pair of pliers ? Form the wire into the shape you want it before putting in the pot.

Tomato support cages are what you need. Plenty out there on tinterweb.

Or if you are handy with a drill, put the canes against the edge of the pot, drill a hole through the pot either side of the each cane, and thread a cable tie through one hole, round the cane and back through the other hole. Done top and bottom it holds the cane securely.

When I put the cane in I push it in close to the edge & it will lean against the back of the container with the weight of the plant,the cane won’t go straight upright in the middle of the pot.

Could you put in three canes or more equidistant around the edge and then wind cord or twine around them? That would be stable, but would it be too ugly for your purposes?

I use green pig/sheep netting to support plants. If you put it in while the plants are small as they grow they hide the netting as they grow.
