  • And yet another garlic thread.........

Looking through a seed catalogue, can't remember which, I spotted garlic which appeared to be growing in a hollow? What it looked like was that as the garlic was maturing the soil had been removed from around the sunken bulb probably to stop anything below ground nibbling it and to allow it to ripen?
Anyone heard of, or practice this procedure and can shed any light on other reasons for doing it?

Just a quick question about garlic. How long does it take for the sprouts to show? I planted mine a few weeks ago and I was at the allotment today and still nothing. I think a plot near ours garlic is growing.

Please don't tell me I have failed on the first thing I have ever attempted to grown on my allotment

I planted about 2 inches from the surafce about 5 weeks ago. I will worry after christmas if I can't see any growth. I'll blame it on the slugs if they don't come through
