  • Fertiliser for potatoes

Which fertiliser do people recommend for Potatoes and when to apply, I have Chicken Pellets, Fish Blood and bone and Growmore availability and I’m not sure which one to use. Pots chitting right now.
any advice would be very welcome.
    many thanks.

This year I've bought some Organic Potato Fertiliser from Wilko and your post was just the reminder I needed to get it sprinkled on the beds
In the past I haven't added anything, just my normal manure topdressing.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
Always aim for the best result possible not the best possible result

Also use a granulated organic fertiliser called Vitax. About £3 for a kilo from my loca garden centre if memory serves.

Stick some grass cuttings or moss at the bottom of your planting hole, seems to help with water retention, which is just as important as fertiliser
      Are y'oroight booy?

Growmore & BFB are very similar NPK I think? The chicken pellets is high nitrogen that’s good for the first stages of growth. I use BFB a slow release fertiliser,I also add some potato fertiliser. After about a week or two I water with seaweed fertiliser that is quick release fertiliser to add nitrogen. When the potatoes are growing later on I give them a bit of tomato feed that’s high in potassium to bulk out the potato.
