What do you put on your compost heap?

This year I will mostly be using shredded junk mail and Hoover bag contents.

Well nothing at the moment, but mainly kitchen scraps and shreded junk mail....

I'd never considered hoover bag contents.. ours will be full of dog hair.

I thought the main idea of a compost heap was to provide a nutrient rich soil conditioner....have never really considered junk mail or hoover bags to be the best starting point!

There are loads of free sources of compost it just depends how much effort you want to put in:

Seaweed from the seaside, bracken from the countryside, grass from the garden, vegetable trimmings from the greengrocer/pub/restaurant, tea/coffee grounds from your local version of Starbucks, leaves from the street/park.

Like anything else the more you put in.......
