Well done on getting your allotment, you will love It. I only got mine last February, and It has taken me this long to get It straight, but In the meantime I grew a lot of stuff and learnt a hell of a lot from senior gardeners on the site, so there's plenty of enjoyment to be had as well as the hard work! Unfortunately there are some thefts that occur, 99% of the time It will be lawn mowers or rotavators etc that get taken, other plot holders will let you know about this probably, so living close to the site as you do, Is handy, as I has found It to be unwise to keep any of that sort of stuff In the shed (If you have one)
you will find that you'll make a few friends with like minded people have a laugh, swap stuff, and help each other from time to time, Its great mate
Usually as a rule the Allotment people are really down to earth folk, and as long as they see you mean business and get stuck In, you will be fine! A few new people on our site liked the Idea of having one, until they found they couldn't commit any time to get going, and It was harder than they thought, so they have neglected their plot, with thi, the allotment Site will ask If you are still keen to carry on, as we all know there Is a hefty waiting list etc
Sorry I've gone on a bit, just wanted to let you know how I found It last year, I need not have worried about a thing, Its excellent and the people are 1st class

ah thanks BB, in the nicest possible way i would make sure that your email address isn't on display when your on the forum. There's countless automated bots that will start sending you rubbish/spam if given the opportunity.

If you drop a line to one of the forum admins they should be able to help you out.

I hope to be able to show you guys some more photos tomorrow. I've moved the tarp and have dug a further two beds. I've got two more to do tomorrow morning.
