I've grown a few different varieties of 'beefsteak' tomatoes over the years and they always finish up all nobbly and segmented and usually get blossom end rot!
Anyone tried buying a large nicely shaped beefsteak tomatoe from Tesco's and pillaging the seeds? At least they would be fresh, but are they grown from F1's I ask myself?
