We always grow lots of squash and pumpkin but the weeds do annoy me so I think I'll try it this way this year!! Another great pumpkin recipe is Argentinian Beef Stew in a Pumpkin shell-google it and you will find it-fantastic.
How about cardboard underneath the squash??
I have a patch of ground next to my plot which I thought I might start growing on (if I can get Mr T to chop down a few trees). This would be a great spot to start with squash and pumpkins.
