    buried black plastic is no joke ,have had to dig out buried sheet about 4 inches down from an area about 20 ft square.
    the allotment I have was uncultivated for around 20 years and turns up a wealth of suprise items every time you stick the fork in.
    I have rough dug mine and taken out all the roots I can see,some areas are now raised lasagne beds,some ordinary raised beds and the rest I am digging manuring and covering in black plastic and planting through holes,I am also trying spuds in stacked tyres on top of weed control fabric in areas where I haven't been able to remove the tree stumps yet

      Ok i understand, sorry this is my first allotment and first go at growing anything. I dont know anything about gardening.

      The plot has been used a few years ago, so there is only really old dried grass on the plot. I will not bury the plastic, but use it to cover over the area i have rotivated. then plant my seeds though the black plastic.
      I find out all the new books web it doesnt say much about starting from the beginning!

        Gotta get get a greenhouse of some distiction i reckon. You don't have to spend alot, Wilko's do tomato house for a tenner and to me there's nothing better than picking warm toms in summer straight off the vine
