  • I Might Have A Lottie Soon!

Me and the OH have been looking at getting a lottie for a while, but knowing our council ones have large waiting lists (all over a year) we were a bit disheartend, however I have been speaking to the chairman of a locally owned private assosiation, and they have 15-20 plots free so off tommorrow to have a look.

The site seems great, water inc, security fence, full size plots. Its got 210 plots onsite, close to both work(for lunch times) and home, all for £22 a year.

So I hope there are some nice plots available, from looking on google maps they all seem to have hedges, but some seem to be a little overgrown i.e mature trees

Excellent news, Jono - we got ours from a privately-run association after being disheartened by long council waiting lists. I'm a bit surprised to hear that they are all hedged - most sites don't have the space to separate plots by more than a path big enough for a wheelbarrow. Mind you, our site only has room for about two dozen full-sized plots, not 210!

If they have a load of empty ones, hopefully you will be able to choose one without mature trees on. Best of luck!

Well we went on Sunday, the weather was great, we got showed around a few plots (overgrown with big trees), then we got shown 'the one' its a bit bigger than we were first looking for as its 2 plots in one, but the beds are already set out and really nice soil, there is a approx 12' by 8' green house, and a massive shed/shack.

Just a light covering of weeds,a few border trees to cut down. So we are really pleased, i will probably rebuild the shed/shack, and possibly the green house as there not in the best state, but overall not much work todo. With the extra space we are going to keep some chickens (as its close to my work I can visit everyday then).

I did get aload of pics but unfortunatley i'm working away all week!! so I cant post them or go to lottie, but when I get home i'll upload them.

          Regards,

          Jon

p.s sorry if there are many mistakes, i'm tying on one of them netbooks and the keyboard is too small for my fingers

We've just taken on a plot on a private site. Like you we had a choice of 15-20 plots, like you there are massive waiting lists with our local council and, like you, we will be paying £22 and this includes year-round water. An equivalent plot with the council costs around £42 and water is only available April to October. I just don't understand why this situation has arisen, unless it's simply that people don't know the private site exists.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

We're plot 107, Jono! Probably won't be up at the weekend due to work, but will be there the weekend after. You'll recognise us, we'll be the ones covered in chicken house paint. Pop round for a cuppa, we have a stove and the tea-bags, but you might have to bring your own mug.

I might also be constructing a coop by then if all goes to plan
