Out of the blue I've been given the opportunity to use this plot in County Durham. Though I can boast some experience in veg growing via pots and a new raised bed, this sudden lucky chance to grow "properly" has left me rather daunted. As with the plot to the side, this land has been used to grow a myriad of veg. However, as is clear, it may have been a couple of years since this took place. Could anyone suggest the best way to cope with the weeds and kindly suggest what would be best to grow in this first year after a break in service. With thanks....Mark.

cover the area you want to grow spuds in with cardboard, dampen it down so it doesnt blow away and grow your spuds through it then youve got a crop growing while you get on with clearing the rest of it.The love of gardening is a seed once sown never dies ...

Look on it as blank canvas! A lot of people would give there right arm for a plot like that (nice views btw) If you are reasonably fit, start digging and planting at one end and just keep doing a bit each day.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
