    Chell,
You should be very proud of yourself as u r going very well.
What have u used as bendy sticks over your bed in the 1st pic. I am also a new allotment owner and loking for tips to protect/grow plants. I currently have my cabbage and cauliflower plants covered with fleece but very soon need to raise the fleece as the plants are growing and am looking at different ways to do this.

Hi Reks, for hoops on my lottie I bought some plastic water piping , it's blue but it doesn't show once it's covered, you can either shove the ends straight in or put a length of dowel or cane up the pipe. This works well for plastic sheeting or later when you want to protect your crops from flying nasties. I have also used some of the plastic trunking which is used for covering wiring, that wasn't quite so good as it is less flexible. Being able to cover a whole bed is so much better than small bought cloches which can be expensive.

ah, I have a hosepipe that now is not in good condition. I might as well recycle it What do u use to secure the net of fleece u drape over the hoops?

          Hi Reks,

Thanks very much, its coming together. The day after taking the pics i laid weedproofer down on my foot paths and covered it with woodchip. That makes it look nicer

Those pipes are the plastic pipes i got with my Polytunnels, i just took the plastic off and placed the neting over.
On the bed on the right i have just made a couple of post out of left over roofing batten. My partner is a roofer so has pleanty about!!

A lot of people on my site use the blue plastic water pipes, bent over. does the job.
