I've just got an 300 sq yard allotment that is in not too bad a condition. The previous owner didnt do much to it other than cover it in woodchippings.
Made a start on clearing them yesterday. Did a small area and it took about 10 wheelbarrow trips to the skip to get rid of it.
There are a couple of beds already dug out which I will just weed, dig over and add some chicken pelletts too. I rescued a few onions that had been left to rack and ruin and put them in my holding bed at home.
I have a few tyres (hope to get some more) which I am going to grow my courgettes and strawberries in this year.
One of the plot holders has given me some rhubarb with the offer of more stuff once I get sorted and a few of the plot holders are on the look out for a shed for me.
It seems a great little community and I have been made very welcome.
Back over there today to clear some weeds on some of the beds (to get the rhubard in) and weed and dig over the other couple of beds and add some manure.
Need to take some photos today so I can plan where my raised beds will go.
