Just called in some reinforcements - I hope

Our George is an elderley chap and couldn't possibly eat all the produce from his 4 allotments, particularly as it's just him and the dog

It appears our George is running a business - bedding plants and produce

Anyway, had a word with my dads who has an alloment on another site and doesn't buy his plants from George- but he knows a man who does, so he's going to put a word in his ear and see if anything can be done.

My dad is appalled, because he feels it is one man wielding his little bit of power

The plot thickens - excuse the pun

I agree NOG, they brighten the place up I have two ladies on the plot next to me they are .. er... ummm...Partners So at least I don't have to worry when I have a pee behind the shed, as they're not interested in me

If it's a council site & he's selling thwe lants & produce you could make an a nonny mouse call & drop him in the compost as your supposed to eat the majority of the produce which he clearly isn't doing. but I suggest that is the last resort. try leaving rakes around his plot so he stands on them

Did you ask if there was anyone else on the waiting list? And if so how many?

As far as I know, if you are the next one on the list, he is legally bound to offer you the plot if one becomes available if it's a council run site.
It would do no harm to check with the council first though!

If it were me I would leave my phone number, full address (stressing that you live very local!)and ask when the letting period is. Our lotties are let from April to April but the plot holders have til 1st May to pay there subs.

Unfortunately the allotment I am after will not be available until 1st May!

He wouldn't even tell me how long the waiting list is

With regards to it being a council run site, I assume it is as that is who I had to contact for a list of the allotment secretaries. They then put me onto this chap who is Lord of the Realm on this allotment

It's obvious I don't know how the hierarchy works

Re the plot you are after - if the person says they don't want it, can't the tenancy pass to you before 1 May, am I being naive in asking that.

                The vindictive approach...

I think a nicely worded letter of complaint is the answer - possibly copied to the local paper ! Point out that he is using his 4 allotments for financial gain - make sure you mention him and his company name - if you don't get the lottie, you could at least lose him some female customers! (a vindictive streak is an essential trait for the female denied what she wants !)

Considering the age of him, four plots may suddenly become available

Sorry - couldn't help that wicked thought

Ah now there's another plan - anybody know how to induce a heart attack? Obviously only a minor one but enough to lay him up for a bit.................

Just wish I knew how long the waiting list is, might have to dispose of a few more allotment holders to reach the top
