Good luck Chris by the way, now I've properly read all this thread, I can't believe there are still people with that attitude around. Nobody needs 8 plots when there are others around whatever happened to share and share alike? Hope you get your plot very soon

Dexter, I think I will pop down there tomorrow and be really nice and really keen, best smile fixed on and see where that gets me...! I'll try to see the lie of the land so to speak, how the others feel about the untended plot and who has is. Sue

Well, I went over to the allotments yesterday in the rain but there wasn't a soul around to chat to! The allotment I almost got is definitely not being tended though so I shall keep going ... found out the name of one of the ladies on the committee so I might try the direct approach!
Any news on yours yet Chris? And good luck to all those trying for lotties!

            Hi Moggssue

Yes I got one when the rents became due. Why people wait until then to say they don't want it I'll never know.

I'm keeping very quiet on the allotment though, because others have been given allotments after me but have apparently been on the list longer - Ooops

Don't know whether it's becasue I kept popping over there, or the fact that I let my thoughts be known re some of the committee and how they allocated allotments and to whom, but something worked

Keep showing your interest, pop over there occasionally, and if there is a particular allotment that isn't being tended have a polite word with the secretary. If they're anything like our one, who takes no prisoners but is utterly fair, you may get lucky.

Good luck, it's worth the wait

Yes I agree - keep going down there & looking willing. I was told we were number 18 on the list for one site, after a phone call & a couple of enthusiastic visits to the site we were offered a plot within 4 weeks of going on the list! (And they hadn't let any to the other 17 people....)

It all comes down to personalities though, it'll work with some chairmen but not others.

Glad to hear you finally succeeded Chris. As top of the list, I'm hoping that a quiet word re the untended plot might work, but if the current resident has paid their dues can they still be kicked off?

On my allotments the man next to me was given 4 weeks notice to sort his plot and was eventually thrown of on the 8th of may.

The untended plot wasnt used all last year and the lady who had it gave it up in March, so I was told I could have it on 1st April, but then she changed her mind and kept it. But it still hasnt been touched, seems such a waste when I'm itching to get out there!! Maybe she's under notice as well - I'll keep an eye on it for another week or two, see if I can catch one of her 'neighbours' up there and find out whats going on.

Sounds like he's lost the plot to me, or should do. What a crappy excuse. Watch out. He might be one of those that sabotages your plot just to put you off/ get rid of you. They're crafty beggers them sort!!
