Ornamental Tatties anyone?????

I am persevering with my Ornamental Kitchen Allotment!

Imagine my surprise when the tops of my Red Duke of York earlies appeared today.......and they are red.

Perfect for ornamentalists like myself..........just wish I'd dotted them about all over the place now to give a bit of much needed early colour!

Yes Snadger, the foliage on my Red Duke of York has quite a reddish hue. But I'm not planting them in amongst my flowers. But I might plant some flowers in amongst them, if you get my drift.
Maybe Phil's right and we should get out more.

I've got Red Duke of York growing in tubs and the shoots are a lovely colour aren't they!

A bloke in America has developed a tattie called Blossom which he produced from true seed (like some of us are doing). It has particularly big and ornamental flowers aparently, as well as delicious tubers. Info from Carol Deppe's 'Breed your own Vegetable Varieties' book. Who knows what we'll come up with between us?

My ultimate aim is a spud that tastes like a peach! Maybe I should have started with a sweet potato?

I am growing some Edzell Blue spuds and when they appeared the foliage is blue tinged and looks really pretty, also some black climbing french beans look stunning now they have appeared as the foliage is very dark green tinged with dark bluey/purple edging could try those Snadger.

Thanks miffy........What cultivar of French beans are they? Both soumd ideal for my ornamental allotment!

I have never thought about putting spuds on my mantle piece lol!!! I prefer porcelain ornaments of figures, not spuds!
