OH & I seem to be in dissagreement about which weeds can be dug in & what needs to come out. I tend to pull out all weeds which is slow & back breaking & he likes to dig everything in.
Think it depends on the weed type and if there are any flower seeds etc present - no doubt somebody can give better advice but I tend to go for th pull it all out and then add safe organic material separately. Would be interested to know what anybody else does.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
If its young and green it gets ploughed in on my lottie except thistles bind weed and willow weed but i normally follow with a bucket and pull the roots out as OH ploughs and pick the big worms out for kids wormery!!
I'm with Nick. Annual weeds will not regrow from the roots so as long as there are no seed heads just dig them in. Perennials will be straight back if you leave the roots so have them all out. And don't let any weeds flower or they will seed all over the place.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
