  • Advice on New Wheelbarrow

    Hi All

I have just bought a new wheelbarrow for the allotment BUT I worried it will get nicked - even if I place it in the shed I think the shed might get damaged if they really want the wheelbarrow.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to keep the wheelbarrow - I have thought about painting it ?

    Any advice welcome

    Thanks
    Lorraine

          Hi Lesley

Well i heard from one of the other chaps on the allotment 2 wheelbarrows got nicked one week.

The allotment is not locked and anyone can walk in.

Not sure who would nick it, just kids, I think

If it was other plot holders 'borrowing' it I would have said paint your name on the side. That won't stop kids though. I always tell people not to put a padlock on their shed doors because it gives the impression that you have something worth pinching. So maybe put it in the corner of your shed and cover it over with an old coat or carpet so that it is not visible.

I bet Snadger or Nick will have some good suggestions.

              cheers Lesley
Hopefully the shed will go up in a few weeks and not planning to put a any lock on the shed.
might try placing a piece of carpet over it.

                Hi lozza
why don't you just undo the bolt and take the wheel off nobody will nick it then.

We had a wheel barrow nicked years ago - coincided with one of the other neighbours having a break in so we think they used it as the get away vehicle. Guess from that it could have been kids!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Oh....meant to say...I thought about your new barrow and reckon if you turn it upside-down and cover it with a carpet etc - you could throw a pallet ontop to disguise it as a compost heap. Doubt the 'baddies' would think about peeping under it.
You can pick up free pallets fairly easily- I got some of mine from Travis Perkins. Told them they were for the lottie and they found some broken ones for us.

I'm just shocked that anybody has to worry about their wheelbarrow getting nicked. Explains why I opted for username Alice. In Wonderland - indeed.
