one year on
Here are my before and after pics, the first is from July 2013 when we first got our plot (although already a lot of grass had been cut down as it was taller than me!) & the second is from July 2014
Definitely makes an impact seeing the difference like this

Well done everyone looks great. I do wonder if there are any old school allotmenteers out there who do row after row tho, beds definitely seem to be favoured.
Well here is my before and after. I hope it helps and inspires someone. I took it on in March 2012 and found out soon after I was pregnant with my first. I gave it up Oct. 2012 due to a house move. I was down most weekends for a few hours (I was working full-time at the time)

I took overnthe plot of an Old Boy and a lot of what he did doesn't apply now to me as the light conditions have changed hugely. There is now a neighbouring hedge of full grown leylandii and his apple trees are overgrown and half the height of the mature horse chestnuts.
Old Boys are great to listen to for the long experience of the site but don't take everything as gospel. Plus even they can't grow everything only you won't hear the talking about what doesn't work

Took this plot over on 25 April this year. Still a long way to go and it needs a bit of weeding at the moment, but getting there.Attached FilesWhat do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

Our half plot
Our allotment is a half plot taken over in October last year. When we took it over it had been used as a dump ground for garden waste and site waste (but cleared of rubbish about a year ago) so it's never been cultivated....brilliant soil, just LOTS of glass and random waste in it. Looks like someone dumped at least one green house in the corner...so we put the shed on that bit!!
I can't upload photo!Attached Files

I'd forgotten this thread and put my before and after pics in the Calendar thread instead. But I'm pleased to repeat them again here...
