    • I have the greatest admiration for all of those grapes who took on nightmare plots. I would have run a mile and I'm not afraid of hard work!

        • Looking good T8Ter, your beds look really wide, is it just the pics?

          • Great progress T8ter Think you might have a smudge of your camera lens though - you seem to have a blurry bit in the same place on each pic

Thanks BM - yes the beds on the left are 2.4 m square (well not quite square ) but as I have access all around them it's easy enough to work them.

Thanks Sarz, yes lens duly cleaned

                Thanks Bren,
Yes my grandaughter loves it over there, and I love the enthusiasm she has when we're planting or cropping (not so keen when we're barrowing manure )

Point taken about accessing around them but can you get to the middle without standing on the bed itself.

Just about, although the ones on the left, the larger ones, are earmarked for sweetcorn, in the one furthest, and the nearest one I'm just preparing ready for my elephant garlic, so will leave empty until September as the manure in there is a bit fresher than I'd like. I may put a few marrow in it, I'll have to see.
This year, for me, is all about trialling things, and if it doesn't work then up they'll come in the winter
