  • Got my lottie.

OMG - Have spent the weekend in a state of excitement. Friday, I got the letter offering me a plot!!! Friday pm visited the plot. Saturday am signed tenancy agreement and picked up the key. Saturday pm went round to lottie and had a proper nose about. Sunday am took hubby and kids and started to clear plot.

    I'm just sooooooooo happy.

Thank you Jacob, I am very lucky as its been cut down and killed off. I have been down there today and we have started to clear the site. My plan is to get it up together before the winter putting in a shed and laying the paths ready for next spring. Lots of hard work ahead but have the double bonus of having all the veggies I have grown at home to enjoy until mine is ready to plant up. It's so exciting to have a blank canvas.

It is in full sun for most of the day, and the ground is very compacted so think may need to hire a rotavator. Previous tenant had seven plots and used it as a dumping ground so the soil hasn't been cultivated for some time. Dug as small patch today and its clay that will need alot of work. Still got plenty of time to get it done.Once I get a chance I will put some piccy's on.

Thanks Sarxwix and Jackie J, I am reading all the lottie advice now so I can pick up as many tips as possible. Really looking forward to how it develops and what works and what doesn't, what a fabulous learning curve this ones going to be. I have experience on growing at home so hope this helps. The site has about 50 allotments and either side of me will be new plot holders. The people that I have meet so far have been really nice and helpful. OH is going to have to cut the grass at home now as I just won't have the time

well done herbie! It's brilliant isn't it? As you probably know, there is a whole wealth of info here on the Vine, so if you need help, just type in an appropriate word in the search bit and find out what you need to know.
Would love to hear, and see how you get on!
