Saving Pea seeds

This might seem a silly question, but I've just finished harvesting my 2 rows of peas and have kept some that are still a bit green but are starting to go yellow to use as seeds for next year.

I've never saved seeds before and wondered if I've taken them off the plants too early? Will they go brown and dry off ok?

Thanks Zazen for the thread on how to store them, but I've picked the pea pods off the plants. I don't suppose it makes any difference does it? (Too late now, anyway!).
