  • Fencing

Hi guys, does anyone know of a cheapish outlet of fencing suitable for the boundary of my allotment plot (75 metres) Our lotties are only a year old and are mostly open plan, which does nothing to discourage pheasants, rabbits and other 2 legged pests. To buy plastic netting 1 metre high from garden centres would cost a small fortune and be prohibitive. Any help gratefully received.

do you break them up and make something that looks like a regular fence out of them or do you leave them whole and stand them on their sides and tie them together?

I've worked in several factories and warehouses over the years, so I'm used to handling pallets. They're made from cheap, rough - sawn wood, so wear gloves

I have used pallets on my allotment and they are usually held together with serrated nails; they are suprisingly difficult to take apart. Beg, buy or borrow an 18" crowbar, it will make the job much easier

Thanks for the pallet advice guys, but its not really what I am looking for. I would need dozens and with no vehicular access and a 600 yard walk to the lotties, moving such a number of pallets is a non starter. I am looking for a cheap outlet for plastic or wire fencing please?

Old doors? At our allotment we have a guy that comes at least once a week and drops off old doors, 90% of the fences on the plots are made from door. Sometimes (esp. as I go up durning my lunch) if your lucky he lives full glass doors(the type with loads of little square windows in) and they are brilliant for greenhouse sides or for cold frames etc. etc. (I have about 10 stashed now for my new set of cold frames I need to build).

Talking of pallets if you try your local builders merchant he will probably give you them free as it costs them to have them removed also if you ask nicely they may even deliver for free the next time they are passing if not it will only cost a tenner for the delivery anyway if not the builders merchant any industrial estate that has businesses on are worth a try
                      Cheers .... John

Please, please please read my post, I cannot be moving pallets or doors, and as there is NO vehicular access, no-one can deliver them either. I do appreciate the help, but talking about pallets and doors etc does not help.
