  • finally i get some space of my own

ive just got a phone call asking me if i want to take care over my dads next door neighbours garden. like i was ever going to say no. now all i have to do is clear it of rubbish and get it ready for the potatoes for next year. thats right made my day.
like ive said before any tips on what to plant where and when to plant is welcome as im still a bit of an amatuer.

    thank you karl.

    Oh, that's brilliant news karl I bet you're cock-a-hoop!

I'd advise sitting down with a pad and work out 1) which veg/fruit you like but don't buy much because of the price, 2) what you eat most often, and 3) what new things you'd like to try. Allocate your space about 40 - 45% each to the first 2, and 10 -20% to the last. Then look up on the net/in a book/in a seed catalogue when each veg is normally sown and harvested. That should give you a start?

I'd definitely invest in a good book as well, there's a thread on Grapes Recommendations I think discussing the best veg growing/allotment type books.

I never thought of it like that. Excellent advice.

always good to plant spuds as a pioneer crop,if you stick to first earlies you can follow on with something else.
