  • Composting/Bokashi/EMs

    Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to find out as much as I can about Bokashi and Effective Microorganisms. I've learnt how to innoculate bran with EMs to make Bokashi but, because I'm so stingy and don't want to buy liquid EMs from someone else every time I need some, I'm trying to find out how to "cultivate" my own. Does anyone know about this subject. I'm thinking that, in theory, if the EM solution is basically bacteria, then once I've made one lot of Bokashi or even bought some then surely if some of it is mixed with fresh bran, molasses etc, the EMs will populate the new mixture and increase in number? Am I way off the mark here or does this sound feasible? Thanks for your interest.

No idea, don't understand it at all but good luck.

I tend to just minimise what I put in my bokashi bin to the things which I can't put in the wormery / compost bin and as we have very little waste food it can take me a few months to fill a bin so I don't begrude the price of the bran too much and have found that beans really benefit from being grown on it!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
