  • A Not Raspberry Question

I've got a frame and I'm getting some new rasps. No problem there. But...

The frame has 3 rows, rather than 2. The outer rows are c 6ft apart (which is about right, isn't it?) However the middle row - which originally also had rasp canes - would make the frame cramped and difficult to use if I planted a 3rd row again.

What can I plant in between? The middle row's 'wired'. Would some sort of bean, pea or sweet pea be possible/sensible? Or something else? Or leave it empty?

Is the middle row of wire there to support the two outer rows? So each row of rasps is supported on both sides?

Well if that was how it started out, it wasn't how it ended up! I had raspberries on all 3 rows.

The outer structures have a double 'row' of wire, which seems to be so that the rasps can grow between them and/or the canes on planted on either side of the supports can be tied in - IYSWIM.
