Now that my half-plot is well and truly under control and easily managed, I thought I'd like a new challenge, so I've taken on a full-size plot on a different site, about 2 miles from home. The new plot was worked earlier this year, with veg planted before the previous tenant left it. He has taken his tools etc from the shed but hasn't touched the plot for what looks like a few months now. When I looked round on Monday there were lots of leeks, swedes, turnips and other things almost hidden by annual weeds. There are still tomatoes on the plants in the greenhouse. I'm going to start to clear the weeds this weekend (weather permitting) but can I pick the veg and use it myself? I got the impression that the secretary doesn't think the last tenant will be back at all.
Anyone else inherited veg in this way?
Thanks,
