Allotment Insurance

I have read on the internet the topic of liability insurance for allotment associations and also for allotment individual plot holders. Can anyone help with some advice of whether this is necessary and what would the cost be. We are a small council approved allotment association in scotland (laws might be different) and run about 30 plots and half plots to a micture of people. Thanxs for any help.

We pay a couple of quid each towards public liability insurance (covered for 5 million aparrently!)
This was forced upon us recently by the council. The tenacy agreement stipulates we must have insurance.

It is best to try and cover yourself. It shouldn't cost much betwwen all the tennants though.

You can join a nationally recognised orgainsation the SWCAA for just £2 for the year and get free Public and product liability for up to 5 million, available to all across the country including Scotland and Northern Ireland.
