That's a decent looking plot in terms of size and position - the house overlooking should prevent any trouble from vandalism etc. Sounds about the same distance away from home as mine is, it's brilliant to be able to just pop down and harvest something for tea, and it's much easier to go and spend an hour or so pottering when you don't have to spend that time getting there and back
Hope you have a long and happy relationship RT

hope this makes sense.... hatched area is paths...which for the most part are 3ft wide... each square represents a square foot. Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated... Not going to put the wood in just yet...will do it next Nov/Dec as I can then see if it works 4 meAttached FilesLast edited by RedThorn; 08-12-2009, 02:58 PM.Never test the depth of the water with both feet

For what its worth Redthorn, I reckon you've devoted too much space to paths! A three foot path is already evident at the side of you plot, shared with your neighbour I would think?
If it were me any other paths would be no more than 2 foot wide or else you're going to have more paths than growing space!
There's no reason why these tangential paths cant be linked to the main access path at various points as well!
You have to go with what pleases you though! My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not planning on putting any wood down this season for this exact reason. Thanks Snadger for the 2ft, that would gain significantly more bed space. I am also tempted to go for 2 sets of 8 ft by 4ft per row(which will give me 13 or 14 beds) but wanted something different. Went for a 3ft wide long bed as this is the boundry I share wit hthe other 1/2 plot and would not have access from his side. Will re-jig in the morning and perhaps put a more conventional plan down and see what people think
Please keep the thoughts coming everyoneLast edited by RedThorn; 15-12-2009, 09:32 PM.Never test the depth of the water with both feet

Congratulations - that plan looks remarkably like an ancient Inca relic. Be interested to see what you find when you start digging.
I think the rule of thumb for paths is - if you can get yer wheelbarrow down it, it's wide enough.
I'm of the Flummery school of thought meself.
Good luck dude - both with the babby, and the plot.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/
