No there is a total of 56 plots spaces on the site with 37 tenants. The longest serving members are the ones who have the easy access and have more than one plot.

I think you walked into it to be honest. They would not have wanted ANY change if there have been no rules since day 1.

I've no other ideas to offer but my thoughts are that if you don't continue planting and maintaining your plot, then they'll be able to use the uncultivated plot against you.

For what it's worth, I would stick in there. Try & organise a meeting & come to some compromise. After all you are one of tomorrows oldies. The present ones won't be there forever.

Aye, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. (Says the wannabe site rep.)
Don't think of this as the last straw, think of it as the climax of your efforts to do things the right way ! All you have to do is outlast them.

Don't let them run you out. There are too many "old boys" who turn into bullies and will do anything to have things their own way.
Continue to plant up your plot for next year. You have your brother and brother in law on your side for a start.
They have nothing against you as you were only trying to improve the site.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

It sounds like you have worked so hard not only on your plot but for the good of the allotment as a whole. Please stand your ground and do not let these bullies drive you out. I have read the previous posts and you have had some great advice, please listen to it and fight, I do know its hard but you are in the right, you have not done anything wrong and it would be such a shame to see all your hard work go to another potentially ungrateful person.

My heart is with you as it must be tough being with such ignorant people and i do hope that some of them may read the vine and realise how catty they have been.

Tis the season of good will WINTER & maybe a good time to try and draw a truce somehow. You don't want the worry of wondering if anybody is sabbotaging (sp) your plot.

If the landlord only wants a peppercorn rent. Why don't you enter into negotiations with him and offer him £300 a year an then sub let it to the allotment site ... then you can p*ss all the old farts into submission

I assume they haven't got a bank account as the first thing they will want is a constitution, but it's a bit of a catch 22. Our rents are £20/year so If your prepared to pay that much you could have a word with the farmer and tell him to up the rent - they'll soon shut up or move on

I know what you're going through in a way we tried to alter things on our site and met stubborn opposition to some rules

" I'll just f***ing ignore it" was said by one bod, so when he did I took great delight in personally handing him his written warning as the rules had been passed at an AGM

Maybe the threat of "infringement of your human rights" maybe the only answer.
