Garlic in the greenhouse?

I'm sorry for asking a silly question but the plan for the weekend was to go and plant my garlic and - oh joy - it's freezing and we had plenty of snow so the allotment is completely covered in it!

Will I be able to start my garlic in little pots (I was given one of those paper potters a while ago) and keep them out in the greenhouse and then put them in the ground in those once the snow has gone and the ground isn't frozen? I would really like to get them started as it will otherwise be too late soon I guess...

I guess not but garlic needs the cold to make it bulb up otherwise you get one huge clove!

rather than the paper pots I'd put them into 3 1/2" pots and then as soon as you can whack them in with a bulb planter a bit deeper than the pot level.

Hello SunnyU, I see no reason why you can't start your garlic in modules now and plant them out when the weather is better. You can plant your garlic up until March but it does much better planted around November. I hope it does great for you.
