  • Good news - I got the little plot next door

You can just see from the pics taken of my little plot last July that I have been watching a patch of grassland just next to my plot [by the hedge] which did nothing all year.

Well after 6 months on the waiting list it is finally mine, only another 50 odd sq metres but enough to make a whole difference to what I can currently grow.

Due to the daft way the council allocate the plots it's the only square plot on the field. Apparently there are 25 others on the list - so why on earth do we still have 20% of our site unused?

I had to cut a big tree back into the hedge and quite a lot of rowan back - I have the scratches to prove it. The hedge area is boggy now but will be good to use in summer.

Thoughts of raspberries and cordon fruit trees as well as a proper crop of potatoes keep coming to mind. How many asparagus plants can two people sensible want do you think?

There is really nothing like the thought of a good growing summer to cheer you up in the middle of a cold winter is there?

Good news ! I am right there with you on the looking forward to growing front !
I think its great fun to be inside on a cold winters night dreaming of the new growing season and planning what goes where and how and when.
I have started to keep a blog of these ideas to see how many of them actually work out and how they change along the way.

Well done - good to have plans isn't it. That's the good thing about gardening - it keeps you young!

Your lottie is far too tidy and organised SN!

Good luck with it, you'll be able to grow so much more.

As for the Asparagus, my Dad has about 30 or so plants and it's not enough - but there are four of us here who adore the stuff, so we have to buy some from a local farm too!
